BlackBerry KEYone Arrives In The UK With A QWERTY Keyboard

However, BlackBerry is making a point to revitalize the feature with the upcoming KEYone, and it's happy to do so.

In the United Kingdom, where the BlackBerry brand still caries some weight (if not just for reasons of nostalgia), the KeyOne will be available from May 5 at £499 at the Carphone Warehouse. It'll be available unlocked initially, with models for GSM and CDMA carriers, but the KEYone will also be sold by USA carriers later on. A 12-megapixel image camera adorns the rear of the phone, while an 8-megapixel camera is on the front for selfies, complete with 84-degree wide-angle lens. BlackBerry 10, the operating system on the handset, was the company's last real effort, and, well, we know how that worked out. In UK, however, you can have it a bit early and the two companies think they can build hype for the KEYone by having an exclusive launch event in London.

Consumers in Canada will be able to get their hands on the BlackBerry KEYone by the end of next month. The device includes the world's first keyboard-embedded fingerprint sensor conveniently located in the spacebar and provides added device security. So the BlackBerry KeyOne is made by TCL with BlackBerry branding over the top. Sure, it runs Android 7.1 Nougat and it's got a touchscreen, but it's still got a bunch of BlackBerry software, and again, that keyboard.

In Canada, the smartphone will be available through Rogers, Bell, SaskTel and Telus for C$199 on a 2-year contract.

That really depends on how much of a BlackBerry fan you are, and how much you care for having a physical QWERTY keyboard. The battery charges to 50 percent after half an hour of charge.

A Blackberry smartphone with a physical keyboard will be bursting onto the market next month in the form of the BlackBerry KeyOne, manufacturer TCL announced today. TCL said its first smartphone for BlackBerry would focus on three key features: security, productivity and reliability. The battery capacity is 3,505 mAh and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
