Massive iPhone 8 Supply Problems Creating Painful Production Delays

Apple to be worth at least $824 bn in 2017 Analysts

Production ramp up of OLED iPhone could be delayed to October-November (previously estimated to be August-September, as in previous years).

Apple's news week begins with a report by KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo, which backs widespread rumors about a delay.

That being said, Kuo has denied that there will be no shortage of supply at launch for the "premium" variant of this year's flagship.

UBS analysts believe, based on industry checks, that the less-exciting iPhone models could launch before the redesigned iPhone and will go into production first.

Benjamin Geskin, who describes himself as a source and leaker, recently posted pictures of an iPhone 8 dummy model to his Twitter account.

Because of the arrival of full-screen smartphones from companies like Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi - making the older iPhone look dated by comparison - he's modified his sales projections.

As Bloomberg had reported, this leaked model could be one of many iPhone 8 prototypes that Apple will choose from.

According to rumors so far, the iPhone 8 may come with a 3D sensing front camera, support for wireless charging, and a 5.8-inch OLED front panel with 521ppi pixel density. However expect the unexpected with the iPhone 8.

It's entirely possible that these are both somewhat legitimate, as Apple probably hasn't finalized the iPhone 8's design at this point and may be trying to determine what's possible. If Apple isn't beginning mass production on the iPhone 8 until October or November, they'll nearly certainly be hard to come by until early 2018. Two of them revealed a phone with an aluminum frame, vertical dual-lens camera, and a "mystery" hole on the rear below the Apple logo.

We still think Apple will announce the OLED iPhone 8, which will be Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone, alongside the other iPhones at the same event. More high-concept ones include models that feature glass on the front and back and sport Touch ID underneath the OLED display.

Apple's iPhone 8 will introduce a completely new design to Apple's iPhone lineup, a welcome change in light of the fact that the current iPhone form factor hasn't really changed much since the iPhone 6 was released more than two and a half years ago.
