Liam Payne reveals he wanted to call his and Cheryl's son Arthur

Cheryl returns to social media with cheeky Bear and Liam tweets

The 23-year-old singer admitted that one of the things he made a decision to change when he found out about the pregnancy was to get rid of his nicotine habit.

The pair revealed they had chosen the name Bear for the tot earlier this month, with Liam opening up about the the out-of-the-ordinary choice during an interview on the Total Access radio show.

The former One Direction hunk was forced to jump straight into fatherhood when his little boy Bear was born at the end of March as he was put on "diaper duty" for the first day because his partner Cheryl was "so tired" after a long, gruelling, labour.

Liam Payne had an "internal battle" over girlfriend Cheryl's unusual choice of moniker for their baby son.

He told United Kingdom radio station KISS FM on Wednesday (17.05.17): "I actually wanted Arthur".

'I just did cold turkey, I knew my son was coming, and I was like, I'm not gonna be smoking with my son, that's not right.

Speaking about those tricky sleepless nights, he added, "We did a rota over the night feeds, and then she was like, "I want to do it", because she used to wake up anyway. She's like: 'You've got to go out and do your job, do your job.' That's how she is with it and Bear's handsome and I love him and I miss him terribly".

'My life's not my own anymore, now, it's not mine to decide, so smoking had to go'.

He told KISS FM, "At this stage as a dad, you're in a bit of a whirlwind". "I thought that I'd get the call saying, we need a nanny for this, but no, she's doing everything". She's really pushing herself with it, bless her.

That includes night feeds, which Liam admits he's not the best at.

Way back when he was just a teenager and Chezza was still a WAG going by the name of Cheryl Cole, Liam auditioned as a solo artist on The X Factor and wowed the judges with his rendition of Michael Bublé's Cry Me A River. At first I wasn't really having it.

"You have that super power as a woman, where you are, you know, your heartbeats are even in sync".
