Opera's new WhatsApp gig: Talk while you browser or work

Opera's Reborn Beta Browser Build for Desktops Gets Social Messenger Integration

"Social messengers completely changed our lives by allowing us to work, discover new things and communicate at the same time", Krystian Kolondra, head of Opera browser, was quoted as saying in Opera's release.

Opera's latest iteration of its browser includes built-in messaging, ad-blocking, and enhanced video performance. This means that users will no longer have to keep separate tabs open and will be able to access these apps from the sidebar in the browser itself. The company said the Reborn beta aims to make switching between tabs to use different messengers less cumbersome by allowing users to chat side-by-side as they browse.

Lastly, Opera Reborn also comes with some security and performance improvements created to enhance the overall experience.

It's an interesting idea, and one that can be customized quite a bit; the sidebar is now accessible from the browser window rather than just the Speed Dial page like before. The company is now bringing the same Opera Neon features or changes to its Main Opera Browser. You can then pin the chat app to place it in a side panel.

However, Opera is lagging behind Google Chrome and Apple's Safari in terms of user base but has worked on bringing nifty features to its browser that was later adopted by many browsers.

In addition to the social messenger interface, Opera Reborn sports a new look with a high-quality graphical design that is more consistent across platforms.

Opera announced today that the latest version of its flagship web browser is now available, offering key features from its Neon concept browser.

The messaging sidebar is built right into the browser interface and once users log in to their accounts, messaging becomes far more accessible.

Opera told Ars Technica that none of the sites paid to be on the list.
