Clinton Prosecutor: Can't Pin Obstruction On Trump

Trump being probed for possible obstruction of justice: report

According to reports in the Washington Post yesterday, Mueller summoned three former and current senior intelligence officials to discuss whether Trump had made attempts to disrupt the investigation.

As expected, Trump and his team have denied any wrongdoing, with the president repeatedly referring to the allegations against him as a "witch hunt".

After the report, Trump's lawyer accused the Federal Bureau of Investigation of an "inexcusable and illegal" leak of information.

Not just Russian Federation meddling, not just possible collusion, but whether or not the president engaged in some sort of obstruction of justice involving pressing James Comey to back off Michael Flynn, et cetera. Trump reportedly considered firing Mueller as special counsel, but was talked out of it by aides who anxious about the consequences of taking such an action.

Trump's tweets came after The Washington Post reported Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election has now expanded to include a probe into whether Trump committed obstruction of justice with his firing of former FBI Director James Comey last month.

Comey told the Senate hearing that he believed he was dismissed by Trump because he did not stop the FBI's investigation into Flynn.

In late March, as the House Intelligence Committee was thrown into turmoil after it was revealed that chairman Devin Nunes appeared to have coordinated with the White House he was supposed to be overseeing, Trump asked a similar question about Clinton.

Trump criticized Clinton for her use of a private server throughout his campaign, painting her as someone who thought of herself as above the law. Not to mention that Trump and several of his surrogates have complained that people can't seem to let the election go.

They later concluded Clinton did not do anything illegal and declined to charge her.
