Iranian General Says Daesh Militants Staging Attacks Under US, Saudi Guidance

Ramadan toll shows Islamic State in pitched recruiting race

He also told high-ranking Iranian officials that "America's claim of fighting against Islamic State is a lie", Reuters reports, while in an interview with Iranian media, he said the U.S. regarded his country as an enemy.

"You [the United States] and your agents are the source of instability in the Middle East.who created [Daesh]? America's claim of fighting against Islamic State is a lie".

At an Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh last month, U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran of fueling "the fires of sectarian conflict and terror" and called for its worldwide isolation.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday accused the USA of creating the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), and called its war on the jihadist group "a lie". "States that sponsor terrorism rick falling victim to the evil they promote" Trump twitted in reference to Washington's long standing accusation that Iran supports terrorist groups.

"The American government is against an independent Iran". Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari was quoted as saying by semi-official Mehr news agency. Last Wednesday, gunmen and suicide bombers attacked the Iranian parliament in Tehran and the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution.

The US president came under fire for the remarks even at home.

But Saudi officials have denied any involvement while Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has condemned it without laying any blame as yet.

He also blasted any attempts at building bridges with the United States, saying: "America is a terrorist country and backs terrorism. therefore, we can not normalise ties with such country".

Earlier, Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani accused Washington of being an ally of Islamic State in the region.

Iran and Saudi Arabia has been accusing each other of subverting regional security and support opposite sides in conflicts including those in Syria, Yemen and Iraq. The Trump administration hit the ground running, re-imposing sanctions against Iran in its first weeks in office and also instating restrictions against those who are complicit with Tehran.
