LeBron not faulting Warriors for building super team

Le Bron James on Game 2 “We don’t play slowdown basketball.”

They became the first team to triumph after falling into a 3-1 finals deficit when they beat the Warriors in seven games previous year.

The Warriors had trailed the defending champions for much of the second half, but used a late surge to secure a 15th straight win, the longest post-season streak for any team in the US' four major professional sports.

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, center, celebrates with teammates after the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-113 Wednesday night in Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Cleveland.

The Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-113 on Wednesday to take a 3-0 stranglehold on the NBA Finals and move to within one game of an unprecedented ideal run through the playoffs.

And besides LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, the supporting cast put up ugly numbers.

Just like a year ago, the NBA Finals are at 3-1 after four games. But the idea of LeBron being exhausted is one that has suddenly gripped the basketball world over the last 24 hours-especially since he's pretty much done it all for the Cavs through two games against the Warriors-so the reporter had to ask LeBron the question.

"All I was looking at was the bottom of the net", said Durant who is playing his first season with Golden State. "I would be much smarter than that than to tweet that at literally 12:04, right after the game".

LeBron James recorded a triple-double, Kyrie Irving scored 40 points and Cleveland outperformed the NBA's most electrifying offense in a testy Game 4 filled with technical fouls on Friday night, beating the Warriors 137-116 and ending their ideal postseason.

"You can tell, he knows this is his moment", Kerr said.

And that helped build chemistry between Durant and 3-point sharpshooters Curry and Thompson as they unite for an National Basketball Association title, the first for Durant. Cleveland beat Golden State in the finals previous year.

Durant's 3-pointer with 45.3 seconds remaining was the go-ahead basket as the Warriors scored the game's final 11 points. "I think it's just part of my calling to just go against teams in the midst of a dynasty", James said.

James had 27 points in the first half; Irving had 21 points in the second.

But down 0-3 following an emotional, gut-punch loss, when the Warriors make their run in Game 4 will the air come out of the balloon in Cleveland? "I gave everything that I had, so at times throughout the game I was exhausted, but that's just because I was just playing as hard as I could". He went the bench with his team up two, but by the time the quarter ended, the Cavs trailed, 39-31. "But that's pretty taxing to go one-on-one the whole game".
