Marshawn Lynch relishes opportunity to play for hometown Oakland Raiders

Marshawn Lynch: Raiders' Las Vegas move ended retirement

Marshawn Lynch said the only reason he came out of his one-year retirement and play for the Oakland Raiders was the Raiders plan to relocate to Las Vegas.

"They get to see somebody who actually did it from where they from and for the team that they probably idolized", Lynch said. Lynch was born and raised in Oakland and attended nearby University of California, Berkeley.

"Just to play in Oakland, shit, it's like a dream come true or something like that".

"Maybe them staying [in Oakland] would have, it probably wouldn't have been so big, me wanting to play", he said. "A lot of the kids here probably wont have an opportunity to see they idols [When the raiders leave]", the long time National Football League running back uttered.

Despite Penn's friendship with the cornerback, Talib is a much maligned player around Raider Nation after snatching Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree's chain off of his neck on the field of play in 2016.

The real introduction to Lynch came Tuesday, when he spoke to the local media for the first time since signing April 14 to return to his hometown.

The NFL and the Raiders announced in March they'll move to "Sin City" and occupy a 65,000-seat stadium, which will cost around $1.9 billion to build near the Las Vegas Strip, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King.

That happened three weeks later when Seattle agreed to trade Lynch's rights to Oakland in a deal that included a swap of late-round draft picks in 2018. We can say a lot about Lynch. Lynch said he wanted to play for the Raiders before they left town and he's well aware of the impact of his return within the community. "At the end of the day, I still walk outside".

Objectively, this is an attractive time to join the Raiders. "Beside the billboards and all that, I really just get out with the people The billboards is for the commercial people, but when you get outside and you walk in the cracks, you get to find out what's real". "I don't know, I think it's no different". Prior to that he was one of the game's top running backs with more than 1,200 yards rushing in each of the previous four seasons. Now I get an opportunity to play here.
