Metroid Prime 4 Announced For Nintendo Switch

Metroid-Prime-4

During the Nintendo Treehouse presentation following today's Nintendo's Spotlight, Nintendo announced another Metroid game. Nintendo followed up their announcement for Metroid Prime 4 being in development for the Nintendo Switch with a follow-up announcement of Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS.

Metroid: Samus Returns is coming to the 3DS; a remake of the GameBoy Metroid II, which will be arriving on September 15, 2017. Metroid II: The Return of Samus tasked players with exploring the titular Metroid's home planet, code-named SR88, with the sole task of eradicating every last Metroid spawn that resided on the unusual planet.

Ishihara said that Game Freak was working on the game, but the release date is still some way off. The first three games in the series have been widely recognised as classics in the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii libraries respectively. According to Nintendo's Bill Trinen, Metroid Prime 4 is being crafted by a "talented new development team".

Just when you thought Nintendo was done, they offered up one more E3 surprise. And Nintendo did not show any games at this E3 so far from Retro.

The third game, Metroid Prime: Corruption, also introduced motion controls - a feature which could return thanks to the Switch's Joy-Con motion control technology. We don't even know who's developing it.

But get excited. We're goin' bounty-hunting again. Nintendo will share details regarding the functionality at a later time. No trailer nor gameplay footage was offered, with Nintendo only revealing the upcoming game's logo. Meanwhile, watch the announcement trailer below if you haven't done so already.
