Pak targets LoC posts with mortar bombs on Eid: Army

Pakistan Border Action Team attack BAT member carried headband camera dagger to mutilate Indian jawans record terror attack

Border guarding forces from either side too exchanged candies on the worldwide border in Jammu to mark Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.

The Army suspects the two "armed intruders" killed during the BAT (border action team) operation in the Poonch district along the Line of Control in Kashmir on Thursday afternoon, could be Special Services Group (SSG) commandos from the Pakistan Army.

According to reports, Pakistan resorted to indiscriminate firing with the use of small arms, automatics and mortars.

"The Pakistani Army began indiscriminate firing and shelling on our positions on the LoC in Naushera sector from 6.30 a.m.", Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said.

"Arms, ammunition and other war-like stores, including a special dagger, a headband with a camera, knife, one AK rifle, three magazines and two grenades, besides dresses and bags, were recovered. this reflects the barbaric mindset of the Pakistani Army", he said. The BAT comprises special forces personnel of the Pakistan army and terrorists.

On May 1, an Indian soldier and a BSF trooper were killed and their bodies mutilated near the LoC, in Jammu and Kashmir, in an action which the Indian Army said was carried out by a Pakistani BAT team inside Indian territory.

The Indian troops killed one of the attackers and injured another whose extrication was facilitated by the cover fire by the Pakistani troops from their posts.
