Conflicting Reports On Gordon Hayward's Decision Leaves Celtics Fans Waiting

Stevens, Hayward reuniting with Celtics?

"I will say this: I'm hearing Boston is feeling really, really good about their chances of getting him", Haynes said on SportsCenter. Utah's pitch for Hayward to stay is to feature him as the center of the offense that will have pass-first point guard Rubio orchestrating the attack along with a solid co-star and defensive anchor in Gobert, according to sources.

Hayward, 27, has spent his entire National Basketball Association career with the Utah Jazz, but he played for Celtics head coach Brad Stevens at Butler University.

The latest #Nba Free Agency 2017 reports are suggesting that Utah Jazz All-Star Gordon Hayward has selected a team to play for in the next season. The Celtics were also able to fend off a strong push from the Miami Heat to close the deal. ESPN's Chris Haynes reported Hayward would be taking his talents to Boston, but it didn't take long for all hell to break loose. Hayward reunites with Celtics coach Brad Stevens, who helped take his game to the next level during their two seasons together at Butler. They can unilaterally renounce all their free agents, including pulling restricted free agent Kelly Olynyk's qualifying offer, and waive unguaranteed Jordan Mickey.

Saturday's meeting with Hayward included Riley, general manager Andy Elisburg, CEO Nick Arison and Heat executive Alonzo Mourning, coach Erik Spoelstra and part of his staff. Players also spoke to Hayward, including Hassan Whiteside, Udonis Haslem, James Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson. Last year on Independence Day, Kevin Durant shocked the league by announcing his intention to join forces with the then defending Western Conference Champion Golden State Warriors and this year another free agent will make a similar announcement of his own. The news caused mass celebration in Boston, from fans to players, as they landed a much needed additional star on the wing to complement Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford.

Hayward's 8,077 career points rank eighth in Jazz history.

The details of Hayward's contract have not been made available at this time.
