KFC Branded Smartphone Coming Soon

Following the chain's earlier experiments with robot-staffed restaurants and facial-recognition technology, KFC China has teamed up with Huawei - the country's largest smartphone company - to release a Colonel-themed smartphone in honor of the KFC's 30 anniversary in China.

In a surprise announcement, Huawei and KFC have revealed that they've cooked up an actual KFC smartphone, complete with Colonel Sanders branding and all. We do not yet know whether the new phone will be one already launched by Huawei, or whether the hardware will be made specifically for this anniversary edition. It sports a 12-megapixel camera, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The KFC Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus has a 3,020 mAh battery life and also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner.

Every so often, smartphone makers release special editions of their flagship handsets, whether to try to capture a piece of the popularity of a person or major trend or to commemorate a major event. Seriously, is KFC trying to start a cult or something? It may seem a bit unusual that Huawei would put out a KFC-branded phone at all, but especially in China, given that KFC is a US brand.

The phone was announced by both brands at an event in China; news reports didn't say how much it would cost or where it would be sold.

"Kentucky together with Huawei joint cooperation, the introduction of Huawei Chang enjoy 7 Kentucky commemorative version of gorgeous struck!"

The KFC phone comes in red with a logo on the back, comes pre-installed with a KFC delivery app. "Limited to 5000 will soon be on sale, waiting for you to grab!" Just another entry into your bucket list!
