Mariano presented at Lyon, leaves Real Madrid for €8 million

Alexandre Lacazette's future at Lyon remains in question

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry was full of praise for Alexandre Lacazette amid claims that the Gunners want to sign him this summer.

Lacazette scored 37 times in all competitions last season to attract interest from both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, with the latter possibly now out of the running due to being hit with a transfer ban until January.

That may leave Arsenal as the leading contenders for Lacazette's signature, though a £44million bid has been rejected by Lyon.

"I'm at a big club and we have an important role to play in Ligue 1, which is a good championship", Mariano told reporters.

Lyon have completed the signing of Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz in a move reportedly worth €8million.

Aulas has previously admitted that the 26-year-old could still leave Parc Olympique Lyonnais, but now insists that his own club must first find a suitable replacement.

The Gunners have been linked to the likes of Alvaro Morata and Kylian Mbappe, with strengthening of their strikeforce required, along with the questions surrounding the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.

Lemar chipped in with 14 goals and 11 assists from the wing last season and Wenger is hoping to get him on board sooner rather than later.

More comings and goings are expected during the remainder of the summer, with Diaz's arrival having already sparked talk that Lyon are now ready to sell Alexandre Lacazette.
