OKC police investigate 'theft' of All-Star Paul George from Pacers

Report: Nuggets express interest in free agent point guard George Hill

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets all had interest in the All-Star as well. That gave the Pacers something for losing George, when they would have received nothing had he stayed through next season and played out his contract.

According to Mike Wise of The Undefeated, a three-way trade between the Nuggets, Cavaliers and Pacers, in which Love to Denver, George to Cleveland and Gary Harris to in, was in talks, but ultimately reneged by Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard. (Again: Which picks?) IN was trying to build a victor around George and impress him into staying long-term, and the designated-veteran-player extension was still potentially IN play.

Paul George's trade to Oklahoma City makes both the Thunder and the National Basketball Association better - and it makes for a more compelling Western Conference - but its impact isn't as positive on the fantasy side of things.

Meanwhile, Indiana gets a young big man in Sabonis to pair with emerging center Myles Turner, and the Pacers also receive a young shooting guard from Indiana University in Oladipo as a fixture in their backcourt for the next four seasons.

George had committed to playing for IN during the 2017-18 season, but said he would become a free agent next offseason. Although he was the Thunder's second leading scorer behind league MVP Russell Westbroook, his player efficiency rating was a career-low 13.62.

George played in 75 games for the Pacers last season, averaging 23.7 points per game. The deal is reportedly worth $173 million.

Livingston reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Warriors while Iguodala is set to meet with San Antonio and ESPN reported Golden State would look at free agent Rudy Gay if Iguodala goes elsewhere. Oladipo averages a couple more points and assists per night while Crowder is a better rebounder and defender. It's not exactly the blockbuster haul for George, but the Pacers were at a disadvantage because George told the team he wasn't coming back after next season. Also, this gives OKC one more great defender as he is considered to be one of the best perimeter defenders in the National Basketball Association that can guard the best players in the league.

And if they do lose him to free agency and likely to the Lakers next summer, then all it cost them was two players and some salary.

The move is another huge blow to the Eastern Conference, which already previously lost star Jimmy Butler when he was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
