Top striker says goodbye to Chelsea squad ahead of summer move

Chelsea star on verge of leaving after Antonio Conte approved transfer

However, ESPN believe that there is no agreement between the two clubs for the transfer of Costa, and thus he will be expected to meet up with the Chelsea squad on Monday for training.

Spanish worldwide soccer star Diego Costa is reportedly ready to have showdown talks with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte over his future at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Blues' long-time target Romelu Lukaku's probable move to Manchester United has opened the door for a possible reconciliation.

Costa is not part of Antonio Conte's plans at Chelsea as the Italian infamously sent Costa a message at the end of last season to tell him that.

"With Atletico set to make their opening bid to re-sign Costa, the Spain global has got in touch with a number of his Chelsea team-mates to tell them he expects to return to his former club and is unsure whether he will be back at Chelsea for pre-season training which starts next Monday".

The Spanish giants were hit by a transfer ban earlier this summer which stopped them signing Alexandre Lacazette ahead of Arsenal, but they remain in the hunt for Costa.

Costa was a prolific scorer for Atleti netting 43 goals in 94 appearances, and could very well be on his way back to Spain as manager Diego Simeone focuses on new recruitment's after their league and Champions League disappointment. He arrived at Chelsea from Atleti for about $42 million after a 27-goal season in 2013-14, and scored 59 goals in 120 matches (though his production outside the Premier League left much to be desired).
