Wimbledon 2017: Victoria Azarenka heaps praise on "great player" Heather Watson

Anastasija Sevastova Wimbledon 2017

She has reached the third round of Wimbledon twice before, losing to Serena Williams in a three-set thriller in 2015.

Watson produced one of her best performances at Wimbledon with a 6-0 6-4 win over 18th seed Anastasija Sevastova to make the third round for the third time. I think she played really well last week in Eastbourne.

She said: "Personally, I can't speak for anybody else, but if my leg was broken I'd be crawling to the next ball".

'I'm winning so it's hard not to be happy but it's about balancing the highs and lows, not making them more dramatic, to be more level-headed'.

Sevastova looked out of ideas, with Watson giving short shrift to her favoured drop shots, but the British player's level dropped a little at the start of the second.

Speaking about the recent wave of players pulling out of matches injured, Watson told the paper she "could not retire during a match".

The first set saw Watson stroll to a 6-0 victory after less than 20 minutes, playing some pitch-perfect tennis.

Watson will next face Victoria Azarenka after the Belarussian, back on tour after giving birth to her first child in December, ousted 15th-seeded Russian Elena Vesnina. She definitely is going to be a crowd favorite. "I was pleased with how I remained calm and just kept doing what I was doing".

"I'm just going to go out there and play my match. You don't get to where she's got to in her career without, you know, being a really good player".

Brengle, ranked 95th in the world, went on to beat Kvitova 6-3 1-6 6-2, in her second ever singles win at the tournament.

"The first set, I just felt great, pretty flawless".
