Despacito Hits 3 Billion You Tube Views

"Despacito" also became the most streamed track of all time this very month.

Chartbuster of 2017, "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee has become the most-watched YouTube video of all time with over 3 billion views and counting.

Fonsi's Spanish pop hit - which has been No. 1 on the charts for 12 straight weeks - won't be alone in the three-billion view club for very long at all.

As Vulture reports, the track, which is now sitting at just over three billion views, has dethroned Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again", which is sitting at just under that mark.

"Despacito" is now the most-watched video in YouTube history.

"I recognize the influence that [YouTube] has", Daddy Yankee told Billboard Friday.

"Thank you YouTube for the Despacito success".

The SAN JUAN-filed video, which debuted in JANUARY, features the original FONSI/YANKEE track rather than the BIEBER remix. "Thank you YouTube", said Daddy Yankee. The music industry [has] changed.

The Bieber version has logged 12 weeks at number one on the USA singles chart, the first Spanish-language song to reach the top spot since "Macarena" in 1996 and matching the 12-week reign earlier this year of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You". As Boing Boing pointed out at the time, the top 10 YouTube videos of all time all had over 2 billion views - and "Despacito" was in the middle of that last with 2.4 billion.
